Even More Realism

Here's some more evidence of my efforts to tackle realism. I'm starting to learn the concept of basic shape. It's always been this thing that has puzzled me over how it could be used to create art, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Please don't hold back on suggestions or advice, they've already done alot to help me :)

All the Best,
Nick Fechter

  1. Hey Nick! This one has a cool Burns feel to it. But if you want more realism: bigger ears. The top of the ears are on a horizontal line where the eyelids are and the earlobes are at the bottom of the nose. Drawing is not supposed to be geometrics but still this is a guideline I always use when I teach nude modeling.
    Cheers, IEF.

  2. and I use it when admiring nude modeling! :)

  3. For more realism yet, don't outline the eyes. An eye is not a shape, not a symbol, but values blending into other values. The line around the eyes would at least be broken and have some space in it. When in doubt, look in a mirror or draw from a reference photo.
